On Behalf of | Jul 28, 2015 | Drunk Driving

When someone is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, they may experience significant anxiety and be completely unsure of how to move forward. After all, in Stamford, and across Connecticut, being charged with drunk driving is no laughing matter. Those who have been charged with DUI should evaluate their legal options and determine which approach to take at once.

According to authorities, an alleged drunk driver was shot at by a law enforcement official after the driver refused to stop. Although the bullet struck the vehicle, it did not hit anyone. Officials say the driver, who has not been identified, was sent to the hospital.

Authorities also say the incident took place after troopers tried to pull a vehicle over on I-84. When the vehicle reportedly failed to stop, stop sticks were placed on the road. After driving over the stop sticks, the driver was no longer able to stay on the road, at which point a shot was fired, officials claim.

There are a number of types drunk driving charges people face, from underage DUI to intoxicated manslaughter. While the consequences vary from one case to another, any alcohol-related driving offense can have serious ramifications. From job loss and fines to license revocation and problems with friends and family members, life may change for people in various ways once they have a drunk driving conviction on their record. Because a DUI charge may present such serious consequences, people who are concerned about protecting their future may want to turn to a legal professional.
