A man with an outstanding warrant in another state was arrested in South Windsor on May 25, according to local sources. Connecticut authorities have confirmed the man, who is wanted in Massachusetts for a nearly decade-old sexual assault allegation, is in custody after a car accident. Police believe he was driving under the influence, and he faces charges to that effect.
According to the report logged by police, the 42-year-old man, who lives here in Connecticut, reportedly crashed into a utility pole near Interstate 291 and Route 5. Officers on the scene say they suspected the man might be drunk, and the man consented to a field sobriety test, which he reportedly failed. He was arrested and taken for processing, whereupon police discovered the outstanding warrant from 2001. This warrant is considered extraditable.
The man stands charged here in Connecticut with operating a vehicle without a license, failure to drive in the proper lane, and driving under the influence. No court date has yet been reported, nor has it been determined whether Massachusetts authorities will extradite for the outstanding warrant.
