Woman arrested and faces DUI charge in Connecticut

On Behalf of | Aug 11, 2020 | Drunk Driving

A woman from Fairfield County has been arrested under suspicion of drunk driving, according to local sources. The 59-year-old woman was arrested July 10 and now faces a DUI charge. There is no word as to whether she has retained criminal defense counsel at this time, and she was scheduled to appear in a Connecticut court as of Aug. 4.

According to the limited information available in the report, it appears the woman was seen driving her vehicle on Danbury Road near Grumman Hill around 1:06 a.m. on the morning in question. She appeared to be driving erratically, prompting officers to pull her over. Once there, police say they determined she was driving under the influence, though no specific mention of how they came to this conclusion was made.

Police say she was charged with failure to drive right as well as DUI, and was subsequently released with a promise to appear ticket. It is unclear at this time whether she has an existing criminal record or a history of DUI charges. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.

A DUI charge can have long-lasting effects on the person charged, even if that individual is not convicted in criminal court. If she is, she could lose her license as well as be forced to pay fines and possibly even face jail time. Her criminal defense attorney will carefully review the police record of her detainment and arrest, paying careful attention to the steps Connecticut police took to determine her level of alleged intoxication. This will be done as part of a larger strategy to build the strongest possible case in her defense.
